Is AI Amazing, Or Is It Just Boring BS?

I love tech, and I’m well and truly on board the AI bandwagon. When it comes to automating admin, getting in-depth search results, sparking ideas, or just having a digital sounding board, it’s amazing.
Every day my mind is blown by new tools and technologies that are reshaping the comms industry. It’s now possible to pull together an in depth PR plan, social media calendar and messaging strategy in record time — but let’s be honest, with PR the paperwork was never the point.
The real magic of great comms comes from connecting with people. And those connections are driven by stories, by human charisma, by people who know how to reach and move an audience. And that’s why in recent years owned content (like podcasts) has become even more important.
But here’s the big question: with AI, are humans really that important? Why bother when you can just press a button and generate great, moving content within seconds. NoteGPT, for example, lets you create “human” podcasts with a few prompts.
With AI nothing feels off limits. You can upload your voice to read auto generated scripts, interview “celebrities” (or their AI voices) and even get AI journalists to “review” your products or books. It’s bonkers and scary!
To find out more, I decided to test this tech myself. I made an AI podcast using NoteGPT and called it "Diary of an AI."
My prompt was:
"Make an award-winning podcast called The Diary of an AI. Please match the tone and style of Steven Bartlett’s Diary of a CEO. In this first episode, please introduce the concept, tell me about some of your guests, and make me want to listen."
The result? Well, judge for yourself.
My view: There was no real spark, no edge, no feeling of a human conversation. It feels empty, like an AI echo chamber.
It just made me realise: yes, AI can mimic tone and cadence, but there’s still a gap when it comes to genuine, deep connection.
But with how fast things are moving, who knows? I’ll be watching this space closely.
In the meantime, if you fancy trying it out yourself, here’s the link to NoteGPT: https://notegpt.io/ai-podcast-generator
